i'm soooo so so tired! i haven't mentioned this here yet, but we've been working on the Queer People of Color Conference pretty much non-stop for the past few months. i'm working on the print material (thank god not the website at least), plus helping with a some of the other logistical things.

i should set the disclaimer that, i LOVE the planning committee!!! through all this hard work, long ass meetings, logistical nightmares (i've been having exhausting dreams all week of photoshopping things and doing other work. it hurts.)... one huge saving grace has been that EVERYONE is an amazing part of our team. we don't have a leader. we really are a collective. and everyone is hellof on. their. shit.

BUT. it's a few days away, and i'm sooo over it. not really, i'm still hella excited, but i caaan't stand thinking about it anymore! i'm so tired of my brain being stuck in this logical/analytical planning mindset. i swear, just trying to think about making dinner, laura and i delegate out responsibilities, figure out requirements, and make a working task list. i'm sick of it. we need volunteers. we need hella MONEY. i think i'm having a break down, and am about to start crying at work.

i haven't been climbing in two weeks. i've been sleeping at 4 and 5am like i'm in college pulling all-nighters or something. i want a vacation.

tomorrow/wednesday is laura and my two-year thing. and, i've got nothing but some loose plans that are rapidly falling apart. o.o

but, she moved in with me in davis a minute ago, and i looove it. i was worried it'd be difficult, stressful, and no doubt it has. but i love it, and i love her. it's good. =]

rawr. i guess i just needed to get that out. THANKS for listening. and yeah, i'm still pretty in love with qpocc and excited to see the 400-500 queer ppl taking over campus this weekend! i'm even more excited that we get those huge professional walkie talkies to use...

that's all.

if you're in davis, eat at ali baba's before sunday and mention QPOCC!! we get 30%

a few highlights from my visit to my love in sd. it was only a few weeks of not seein her but it's hard, damnit

  • lotsa vortexing & movie watching

  • roadtripping to LA w/ josen & lauraface, chasing cars with too many tv screens in em. also, i'm amazed at socal carpool lanes. they seem ridiculous!

  • ...for TRUCK STOP at HERE! oh i had such expectations and they were not met. i'll stick to sf clubs i guess. still fun though! and laura was extra drunkface, as demonstrated below

    some wonderful drunken fools and beautiful queer womyn! check out laura tryna be gangsta

    ah why not? =)

    and who doesn't love seeing narinda dancing!

  • hit up a lil breakfast the next day at the nickel diner in order to refuel...

    look at these hooligans loitering about!

  • ...refuel for the CRAZY anti-prop 8 protest!!! ohhh so amazing, being in a mass of people all chanting and solidaritizing and hoping for the same thing. (minus a few negative nellies...)

    check out them fancy last-minute rite-aid posters! yeah they're fierce

    cannot tell you how amazing it feels marching for queer rights under your own flag & with your people

  • tired, kinda lost slash iphone almost dead and the map not working great, hella hungry, but so so proud, we happened across audrey kawasaki's latest installation at thinkspace!! oh so amazing...

    cannot tell you how amazing it feels marching for queer rights under your own flag & with your people

  • also, laura took us to the greatest taco shop after where i had chimichangas that were so much better than those frozen $1 crap chimichangas i eat or any restaurant chimichanga i've ever had that i wish to someday return and bask in the glorious chimichanga heaven that it is. the tacos laura got were also really really good. and they had a carousel. O.o

  • laura took me to a buddhist mass (not sure if they call it mass?). it was pretty damn interesting except for the hour where the lady chaplain talked about her deceased pet ferret (although it was heart-wrenching)

  • met up with a cousin! had some interesting talks... it's nice not bein the only black sheep of the family...

  • made crab for dinner for laura's mom! she liked it! (yeeeaah brownie points!) i think. i made salad too though, yay veggies?

    i usually only make dungeness but this was all they had (rock crab). well, this or devil scary ass monster SPIDER crab

  • we hit up a casino buffet monday night, an hour out of town. long drive, but it was FREE! $27 per person but FREE for signing up for something!! yeessss, free crab legs, lobster, ice cream goodness. not the best quality but hey i love me some buffet. we also gambled, all night, resulting in acceptable losses but such near wins!

  • on the way home, laura took me to the top of mount helix where she lives and despite the cold and fear of zombies & ghosts, i got some gems w/ my crappy camera

    lurve her

  • our last day together was comprised of: shooting a bb gun at a ferocious oatmeal can; driving along coronado bridge as the sun set; running around on cold wet beach sand; eating semi not so delicious sushi; amazing chocolate croissant bread pudding from extraordinary desserts; and a make out session in the airport parking lot like foolish teenagers til it was too close to risk missing my flight <3

i miss her already :)

i'm trying to make a decision on a large-ish purchase... how much is art worth to a starving-ish-not-really-college-student-anymore-but-still-for-some-odd-reason-more-broke-than-she-should-be? is this one of those lasting investments that i should make now because i'll no doubt treasure it for long to come? if i can drop a couple twenties going clubbing every other weekend, isn't this something i can "afford" too? but if that's the case, shouldn't i also be able to throw s'more cash the way of the equality california & other no on prop h8 orgs? i guess i am learning new and exciting ways of making ramen, and i do need something to accompany jessica alba on the walls in my room...

anywho, this is the piece by audrey kawasaki ([info]i_seldom_do!) that's on my mind, and it comes on sale this sunday.

http://www.audrey-kawasaki.com/sale/index.php?p=16

all thoughts appreciated. would you, if it were a piece you really liked?

i've had a crazy hectic week month, nonstop events and places to go. here's a quick recap!

10/4 - great america haunt!

w/ the beplerese; being chased by zombies; using laura-in-a-wheelchair as a weapon vs a skeleton man; abandoning laura & her wheelchair in a foggy tunnel b/c of zombies; cherng wheelchairing around a scary witch/zombie lady to the confusion of other great america goers

10/10 - rmi grand opening

a surprisingly fun work event! got to pour wine & beer, sample some good centennial beer and mondavi moscato d'oro; briefly saw martin yan (yan can cook!)
climbing

10/14 - rock climbing

once or twice a week, every week, for the majority of the past few months makes this something i actually feel i've improved at =]

10/14 - mangos w/ chili

awesome pride week event!! very hot, loved the comparison of a fucked up mango to a multi-racial relationship

10/15 - club 21 w/ jaymes

first time out in a long while with the lovely jaymes! ran into some LDL folks for good times & dancin

10/17 - night of awesomeness

in twelve hours we made it to an office bbq, davis is burning in full drag outfits, the saddle rack for laura's brother's bday, st joseph's (my grade school) to take drunken pictures, and a crackin donut shop at 3am.

one scary thing, we stopped at the donut shop cos i had to pee, and a bunch of white guys were standing around a car in the parking lot. i walked into the laundromat next door by myself looking for a restroom, and one of the guys hella followed me in and started walkin after me.. i hightailed it back to laura & kira before anything happened though..

notable moments?

  • learning about the 'laura pose';
  • real facial hair & a jaymes-crafted crotch bulge;
  • watching hottt drag kings;
  • getting cat calls at the saddle rack;
  • having a guy at the saddle rack eye my facial hair, and then check out my ass as i walked by;
  • smirnoff w/ ms kira luna;
  • darren yamaguchi's amazing dance moves;
  • "ain't joseph's!" prom picture;
  • laura getting hit on on the freeway;
  • someone yelling "have a good night, hairy lady!" at me;

10/18 - living word festival w/ mos def

laura picked this event out in oakland and it was hella fun! mos def performed, but we only caught the tail end from our car (ms fat booty!); lots of amazing graffiti art, plus a skate park where hella kids managed to do awesome tricks and not kill each other and crash at the same time

10/18 - the wedge: where everybody is somebody

a club in daly city that plays damn good music (including tagalog remixes of umbrella & soldier boy!!!), serves delicious filipino food til 2am, and includes ppl of all (21+) ages!! lorie & pia described it like a wedding reception or cotillion, and that it was. (on top of all that, there seemed to be a bunch of other queer womyn, not just the ones we came with!)

whew!

i'm avoiding something.

it's one of those things where, the sooner i do it the better, but doing it completely fucks up my head and ruins my mood. likewise, it's something that would be best done all at once, but as it stands i can only stand to do it for bits at a time. i'd rather do it with laura here by my side, but i'm strongly against letting it interrupt my already limited time with her.

so, i'm not gonna do it, and instead i'll ramble a bit.

today's my ladyfriend's day of birth, a day that i feel should become a national holiday on which to celebrate her awesomeness, or at least give me an excuse to take off work and be with her. but no, i'm in crummy davis, where it's too hot and invisible bugs are terrorizing me. i love her though, soo intensely i be goin crazy without her.

we went out friday night in honor of her and elyse (whose birthday was a week ago) and i got quite drunk. she did some hella cute 'parkour' demonstrations outside the club or zhayra's apartment or somewhere. i attempted cartwheels on pavement and elicited a good number of bruises. later we ended up at marta's apartment, where the floor was all too slippery and in my drunken stupor, i tripped over a blanket, landed on my face, and almost/kinda did break my glasses, plus bruise my face. not quite black-eye status, but i definitely feel the bruise around my eye socket and on my forehead.

the following day we discovered my glasses were still at the apartment, and all we had was one lens that had popped out. my solution was a monocle slash eyepatch contraption, whereby the lens dangled from the strap of the eyepatch using unbent paperclips and electric tape. turned out pretty well actually, and sturdy!

the alcohol that night brought back unwanted memories, though. which brings me back to the task at hand that i don't want to do...

swiped these two from [info]eugthinks!

Leave a comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. Afterwards, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

H

  1. hot dogs from costco!

  2. holding lauraface while we fall asleep.. <3

  3. hefty servings of sushi, specifically slices of raw fish

  4. hpnotiq bottles from cute ladies that roll around in the back of my trunk for days

  5. hemoglobin, for no apparent reason..

  6. hyyyeeeen with the stdc

  7. h6's!!1 obvi

  8. horribly unhealthy foods

  9. heeelllaa love the bay

  10. hiding eggs for ppl!

Alternately, feel free to give me another letter, and I'll make another list. Fun times! And now for the second one, which is another audience participation meme:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, the benefit of revolutions, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

I didn't write the above paragraph... please make requests a little more interesting than "favorite type of underwear". :P

i'm still awake. omg. it's four in the morning. this is what happens when i don't have someone around to remind me to sleep.

for no apparent reason, i've spent the last ten (+/-) hours researching certain laws, reading miscellaneous and irrelevant articles, trying to figure out everywhere i went (read: ate) in my week.5 at bepler and put it into a map, which led me to rambling on reviews for said places, and finally working on a couple shirt designs for our department at work.

i'm feeling delirious but still very much awake. laura's been a silent presence on the phone in my right ear. my wrists are very much pre-carpal-tunnel at the moment.

okay okay, i'll stop my rant.

wait, one more. my parents stopped by today cos i had to sign some papers. in attempts to make peace, i got my dad a shirt that looks like a barong with hidden weapons on the inside, and my mom a thing of avocado ice cream from mitchell's. she, in particular, looked really surprised at that, although she still said less than ten words to me (the majority being "oy, your ulam is in there"). on leaving, my dad asked if "that laura" would be coming to easter with us. he mentioned that my mom definitely didn't want her there, but i should ask her anyway if i wanted. amazing! it's weird and awkward progress, but i guess it's progress nonetheless...

whoa, some cats are hella howling right now! i think it's gnocchi but i can't tell. he is becoming more and more doglike though, stella & molly taught him to sit already. maybe it's a full moon?

k, sleep attempt #9.
